Rumors of my demise, etc.

You know how it goes. The mojo waxes, wanes, waxes again; you’re knitting along but it’s mostly just shapeless blob, nothing to speak of that you can capture in a photograph. Or you finally finish something after months of inactivity, only to find the object whisked away by the recipient to be worn with glee, making attempted photos blurry and  not generally great for blogging.

All of which is shorthand for, I suck, I didn’t post at all in September.

Fall is well and truly underway, as is the election season and my family’s busiest time of year. (I work for an organization that is involved heavily in the political process, and thus when things get crazy on Capitol Hill, things are likewise crazy for me.) I did finish a requested object for The Sainted Husband, however — he wanted a “Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” hat. In bright, obnoxious orange. Like so:

I thought we might be able to do that, so I cannibalized yarn from the never-knitted JayneHat stash and knit a Jacques Cousteau hat. (Ravelry link) If you’re not yet on Ravelry, you can also find the pattern free here. But dude! Sign up! Anyway, it’s done, and he loves it, so much that I haven’t got him to sit still with it long enough to get a photo shoot done. Maybe tonight, although it’s grey and gross outside.

I have unfinished objects weighing me down that I will try to work on this fall and winter. Hopefully I’ll manage some photographs to go along with them, if anybody’s still out there. :) Happy Fall! Register to vote, if you haven’t already, and then VOTE, baby, VOTE!

Oh, and tomorrow is my birthday. Ack.

    And happy early birthday! :)

  • Happy Birthday!

I wish I could vote down there as I feel we Canadians are as influenced by your leaders as you guys are. Of course, I get to vote up here next week and that’s no easy decision.

I barely posted in September either. It’s ok. Bloglines keeps everyone apprised of everyone’s postings.

  • A VERY belated, but nonetheless sincere Happy Birthday. I hope all’s well with you and yours. Love the Bill Murray hat.
    Hugs!!!
